Hi Daniel
You ask:
> Will initiating the LDAP make migration difficult.
What choice do you have? You might be able to skip one migration step today. After that you are in the same rush as everybody else in the accelerated release plan.
> Should LDAP be set up before inserting the migrated db?
Same answer as above. If you haven't configures LDAP yet, you can wait one upgrade but what about the next one, and the next, ...?
> As far as i am aware the LDAP uses MS data to log in the user, but will configuring this early affect the migration?
You are insulting LDAP http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LDAP. It has a long history starting from the X.500 standard and followed through by many standardization organizations. MS may have sat in some of them (I don't know) but their final act was to create their own flair of LDAP and calling it LDAP - yet another manifestation of EEE ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embrace,_extend_and_extinguish ).
![sad sad]()
Anyway leaving the FUD and power play aside, scan the Authentication forum https://moodle.org/mod/forum/view.php?id=42 and their documentation http://docs.moodle.org/en/LDAP_authentication for Moodle related information.
