html files in upload folder

by Doug Osborne.

Hi all,

I recently was put in charge of a Moodle site, despite being rather unqualified, and I have been trying to update it from 1.9 to the most recent version (2.4).  It appears I have everything set, except for videos (each lesson is a video, so it's a big part).  The original setup was as follows:  the code that called the jwplayer was on html pages in the uploads folder (then "uploaddata", now "moodledata").  There is an html page for each lesson.  On the lesson page, there was an iframe that pointed to file.php/whatever/file/path which returned the relevant html page in the uploads folder, and thus the video.

It seems now the file.php system works quite differently, perhaps even encrypting the filenames?  Whatever it is, the iframes can't find what they're looking for now, and if I try to re-upload the html files through the current upload tool, it says it won't let me upload html files.

Is there any way I can use this system of iFrames anymore?

Thanks, Doug
