I did find this thread yesterday Patrick but didn't follow it. Anyhoo, donwloaded passchange.php and when I surf to it all I get is a white screen with "Invalid username" the top left.
Worth a try though.
I am going to wipe the site and then investigate and try a manual install I think - if thats possible.
