Actually, if you use git to upgrade, you can run the moodle upgrade and then go to the web interface where there will be an option to upgrade all plugins...much quicker...this of course is dependent on a plugin not boinking your upgrade!! After years of copying over 40+ plugins (which I can do pretty quickly from command line but is still a royal pain), I am finding git is a beautiful thing!!
As Howard mentioned, test first..always good to have a copy of your site on a dev platform...
