OS X Install Error

I'm attempting to install the MAMP version of 2.6dev (also tried with 2.5.2+) to tinker with on my Mac, I run through this guide:

But at Stop 6 I don't get through to my Moodle, I get the following error:

Connection to 127.0.0.1 failed.

The system returned: (111) Connection refused

The remote host or network may be down. Please try the request again.

Any ideas where I might be going wrong? I also tried the XAMMP install and had the same issue.
