Moodle NTLM login... almost working.

Hi all 

I have been left holding the 'moodle baby' as my long term moodle staff expert has just moved to greener pastures 

I decided to jump in and install moodle from scratch today, so i could have a look from the ground up so to speak..

I have been pleasantly surprised at my progress, i have moodle 2.7, running on IIS with the SQL on another SQL 2008 servers all appears well..

However i am stuck on the NTLM SSO login. i have set it up and it works , as long as i go to the http://moodle2.wherever.ac.uk/auth/ldap/ntlmsso_attempt.php page. However the root page http://moodle2.wherever.ac.uk/ still gives the login page and does not instigate the ntlm login process.

what am i missing ?
