Hi, thanks for helping out.
We have a dedicated server with GoDaddy which is running Ubuntu 10.04 and have PHP 5.3.2.1 and MySQL 5.1.63 installed. On this dedicated server, we have several Moodle instances, the production site running Moodle 2.3.3, sandbox site running 2.3.11 and we are trying to have some more Moodle instances (Moodle 2.6.x and 2.7.x) installed on this server. As you can see with the current PHP and MySQL, it does not meet with the minimum requirement. So we are thinking of upgrading our PHP from 5.3.2.1 to 5.4.4, and MySQL from 5.1.63 to 5.5.31. Here are my questions:
1. Would Moodle 2.3.3 and 2.3.11 compatible with PHP 5.4.4 (or 5.4.31) and MySQL 5.5.31?Would I encounter any problem with the upgrade? Since we don't have a staging or sandbox server so there is no way that we can do a simulated upgrade first before the actual upgrade, so we really want to make sure that the upgrade will not interrupt with the current production site.
2. Should I consider upgrade to PHP 5.5.15 and MySQL 5.6?? Would I gain any benefit to upgrade to the latest and (hopefully) fastest release? Would these two be fully compatible with Moodle 2.3.x, 2.6.x, and 2.7.x codes??
Thanks a bunch!
