As most people won't know what Appserv is (I didn't). It might have been nice to provide some information about it. Anyway, having looked it up, it seems to contain
- Apache 2.2.4
- PHP 5.2.3
- MySQL 5.0.45
- phpMyAdmin-2.10.2
You can dig through the release notes yourself but that would limit you to Moodle 1.9. Even Moodle 2.0 needs a minimum of PHP 5.2.8
