Hi Ken,

I have the same access problem on a MAMP Installation on Mac OS X!

Is it really required to hack the hosts file or also the config files of moodle to get to a result that does not redirect like it wants?

I see no point for this redirection and the preference to just use one hostname or FQDN!!

Is this just in some preconfigured bundles the case or on all installations of moodle?

In my case I am running MAMP and Apache on 8888 on a mac called moodle.xdom.lan with Lan-moodle-access through http://moodle.xdom.lan:8888/

The outside access should be http://moodle.xdom.com/ so the server reaction is the same as the synology issue in this thread.

Is there no configuration to avoid strict-'nes' of the hostname?

Thank you for your responses!

Chris
