A more general comment: it is usually better to keep the Moodle program files in a subdirectory (that is a subfolder, for example, "moodle" as you had it originally) than keeping them directly in the root folder of your website. You can set redirection in Apache (or whatever webserver is used) to open site/moodle/ when site/ is called.
This has to do with long term maintenance or more exactly with major upgrades. It is easier to install the new version in a folder parallel to the production version, test it, and when all done, just switch the redirection in Apache, leaving the old version still accessible for some time.
The recipe originally provided by Visvanath did exactly this. No need to actually move any files to another folder as you implied in your original post.
