Tim, Ken, and Visvanath,
Thank you very much for your help. I ended up diving in and learing relatively quickly how to work with Git.
I used the "Git clone" statement to get everything and installed it inside a directory (Moodle) in the directory of my current (past) install. I copied everything from my current install into a backup directory and then I deleted everything in my current install directory.....ooops, yes everything! I was supposed to keep the backup directory of my current install. Ah! Oh well, it wasn't hard to replicate.
After a big sigh, I pulled everything from the Moodle (Git) directory out into my live directory, rebuilt the config.php file and installed all of my contrib block, mods, etc. and accessed my new 2.4 site (or so I thought) to initiate the upgrade. At some point I saw a message saying I was about to upgrade to 2.5 (not recommended for production sites) and quickly read some more on Git to figure out how to get 2.4 activated, so to speak. Wow! It was way easier than I had anticipated. I guess my brain still has some plasticity left in it! Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.
Thanks again
Jason
