Hello,

I had to export my users with their all metadata for that I found plugin called General plugins (Local): User Sync CSV.

I downloaded the zip file and added into moodle plugin section and then continued.  It verified the version and asked me if i want to continue I clicked yes then it moved to a page Upgrade key required.  I dont know the key and now I cant even access my moodle dashboard page.  As soon i login into my moodle it takes to straight to that page.

I hope i didnt break my moodle as I am the assistant to my tech leader and we have so much data on our moodle.

How can I stop this page and be able to access the site administration page?  I am not planning to upgrade my moodle or anything.  I just wanted to export contacts using this plugin.

Thanks a lot.

You haven't broken anything.

However, you might want to read this - Upgrade_key

Moodle v3.6 and MySQL v8

Hi,

We want to set up a new server with Moodle v3.6.2 installed on.

We have a dillema - which version of MySQL should we install on this server - v5.7 or v8?

Did anyone of you already have experience with a Moodle v3.6 server that is using MySQLv8, and if so, could you share it with us? Is the environment stable enough? Did you encounter any problems?

Bonus question:
Which version of PHP or you using and what is your experience with it?

Thanks in advance smile

As far as I am aware, Moodle 3.6 is compatible with MySQL 8.

I see no reason not to use the newest version if you have a choice.

Again, I mostly use PHP 7.2 with Moodle 3.6

Thank you for your reaction Howard. I can't explain the mix of 3.5.3 en 3.6.2 as I'm using Installatron to manage the Moodle-installation. Last week, I've received a message about the successful upgrade of Moodle but as you've read the message above, that was definitely not the case.

Ater your reaction, I've asked the hosting provider to return a backup from 2 weeks ago. This action is in the meantime succesfully finished. As a result, 3.5.3 is currently installed and the option (within Installatron) to update to 3.6.2 is visible again.

Prior to updating Moodle from Installatron I want to ask you this question: Do you recommend using Installatron to manage the Moodle-installation?

Easy - no!!

I never recommend using these installers because THIS is what happens.

Thanks Nicolas,

I'll buy another Pi and give it a try. It seems like a very interesting project.

Hi all together

using Moodle3.6.2+ in some subdomains as ... e.g. "test.mydomain.de" I wnat that Google has no acces to that subdomain and does not show that Domain in any searchresult. How can i do that in Moodle? Simply: I do not want "test.mydomain.de" to appear in any search result of Google.

May sound simple, but where to do what in my moodle?

I am using moodle version 3.6.1. In VmWare I have installed jail server 2.2.2 on ubuntu 14.04LTS.

Jail server is working fine. I have installed vpl plugin in moodle which is running in windows environment. I have created an activity of vpl with testcases and execution options as run, evaluate, evaluate on submission, Automatic grading. When i wrote the code and try to evaluate it with a student login it is displaying the following compilation error:

gcc: error: unrecognized command line option ‘-fno-diagnostics-color’

How to resolve this.

Howard, a very interesting idea that I didn't know about.

Out of curiosity, do you use this approach?  Are there any negative ramifications of having this robots.txt file on your server?  (For example, is it better to let a robot visit your server and be done with it, instead of having the robot re-attempt access 1 billion times a day?)

Nope - never seen a need for it. I've used it on other (non Moodle) sites though. Appears to work as advertised.

As far as I can tell, most of the common robots will read the file and back off. I use it on (for example) some eCommerce sites that are linked to from elsewhere. We don't want the customers finding the payment part of the site directly.

would that simply be enough:

++++++

User-agent: *

Disallow: /

++++++

to be in a robots.txt? also for subdomains  to set now for already existing searchresults that are shown within google?

How long would Google crawler take to update the results and accept this And not show them any longer?

Re: Error when Installing Joomdle

I think this is due to a bug in Moodle so I've added a Tracker issue: MDL-64719.

If you're comfortable editing your site's source code you can make the following change to the function user_create_user() in user/lib.php, looking for the following lines (should be lines 129 to 131:

    // Purge the associated caches for the current user only.
    $presignupcache = \cache::make('core', 'presignup');
    $presignupcache->purge_current_user();

and changing the last line so this becomes:

    // Purge the associated caches for the current user only.
    $presignupcache = \cache::make('core', 'presignup');

    if (get_class($presignupcache) !== 'cache_disabled') {
         $presignupcache->purge_current_user();
    }

I tested this and I was able to install Joomdle after this change.
