I use another plugin - the EASY-LMS plugin, which syncs with Moodle.

This additional tool blends theory and practice, your employees receive pieces of micro-content during the work process.

If it's interesting for you - I can share with you some details.

I solved the same problem with the custom menu using the EASY-LMS plugin, which syncs with Moodle.

I am still experiencing the same problem.i have narrowed it down to the Snap theme. If I change theme to Boost the messaging works fine. Just finished experimenting with the latest Sanp release, I will let you know how that works.

Thanks Paul, That's odd because we ARE using the Boost theme. But maybe switching themes will help. I'll let you know if we figure anything out too. Marian

Upgrade from 3.7 to 3.11 with custom admin config

by Andrei Romila.

Hi,

I am using moodle with a custom $CFG->admin directive. I would like to preserve this in my new installation but on my testing server Moodle software cannot find the admin plugins if I change the $CFG->admin directive and move the admin folder to the new folder.

I can update with default settings no problem, everything works right. But when I change the default admin resource to something else admin plugins break (only admin plugins). There must be some other config that needs updating.

Any advice here?

Thanks

Turn on debugging and share back what that might say.

Check web service error logs for hints/clues.

Might also share info about your setup - how hosted and where, Operating system, versions of PHP/MySQL/MariaDB, etc.  Running other apps ....  like a WordPress?

Did you check environment?  Are you attempting a hyperjump?  3.7 directly to 3.11?

The Ubuntu dist upgrades themselves are pretty stable... I have done it a few times (often on my dev machine) as I prefer to go for a fresh server install with production and migrate everything across. The main issue I have seen with dist upgrades is that whilst you get the new versions of PHP and Apache installed, you may not get all of the modules bought across too. This has lead to a bit of head scratching in the past, but I have come to expect it now!

Thanks for all the support. We decided to start over with a new Moodle 3.9 instance.

Thanks everyone for your assistance. We decided to start with a fresh copy of 3.9 and manually copy over what was still needed.

I've read this and your other post several times and I'm not sure what you're talking about. You might want to give some background. My understanding is that an 'LRS' implies some service external to Moodle so we're probably going to need to know what this is and what you are trying to do.

I don't know what you mean. Scheduled tasks aren't guaranteed to run at a particular time. They run *after* their next allocated time but this depends on how busy cron is and how often you run cron. If you're trying to use scheduled tasks to do something synchronous, you're going to be dissapointed.

Thanks for the suggestions Leon, turns out there was a discrepancy between our moodle app on the dev env vs the repo :/

All is well now after merging/building the correct branch to our dev env for php7.4.

Appreciate the help regardless! Cheers

Hi, I have installed moode to Ubuntu server 16. while trying to install moodle it shows to set the php input vars to 5000. I have already set it to 10000. After changing the values I have restarted the Apache2 server. the error keeps on showing. then I have checked the php-info.. It shows the max_input_vars is 10000.

Apart from this what should I do. I have also tried .htaccess file creation.

Error Image

after changing the value this is from the php -I command

max_input_vars is a DB config/tweak (for mysql/mariadb my.cnf file).

Restart your DB service - catch 22 = shared hosting?
