Is this *any* files or just files attached to a particular activity / course / something else?

My answer: particular activity / course

Is it just PDF files or all files?

My answer: most PDF files and large JPG

Is it new files you upload now or older files?

My answer: it's for old files. I can upload new PDF's and view /download them.

If you haven't done so already, turn on Debugging.

My answer: debugging not outputs any error, because problem that files are corrupted.

Files are not segmented in Moodle.

My answer:  I guess hosting migrated me to new server  (or etc.)  and I'm facing that issue now.

Grinding wheel forming step

by yk lyk.

After the grinding wheel is finished, it is not said that it can be sold to the market. There are many steps that are unknown from the molding to the completion of some inspection work.

First, drying, firing

1, drying

After the 7" cut off disc for stainless steel is finished, it is placed on the grinding wheel frame and pushed into the drying kiln for drying. At present, it is heated by electric wire, and the temperature is kept at 90 degrees Celsius for 12 hours, and then naturally cooled. In the future, mass production can be carried out by using the heat energy removed by the firing wheel kiln. In general, the grinding wheel with a diameter of 150mm or less can be dried in the sun to achieve the purpose of drying and drying. The grinding wheel with a diameter of 200mm or more, especially the 500mm and 600mm large grinding wheel, is dried in the drying kiln, otherwise it will appear in the firing process. Cracks affect the quality of the grinding wheel.

2, firing

The kiln used for firing the grinding wheel is a batch-type self-control kiln. The temperature rise curve can be set at the controller, and then the temperature in the kiln rises or falls with the set heating curve. The whole process is automatically controlled, the temperature is uniform, and the temperature rises quickly. The quality of firing is high.

Second, processing

The surface of the grinding wheel, the inner bore and the outer circle can be machined on a conventional lathe. The special-shaped grinding wheel machine can realize the automatic working cycle of multiple processes such as car, grinding and drilling. It can accurately and efficiently complete the turning, grinding, grinding and grinding of the outer circle, section, inner diameter and hole of the grinding wheel. It is suitable for parallel, cup, Processing of bowls, plates, worms and various shaped wheels. Applicable to the professional design of grinding wheel production, the tool holder is stable, the positioning is accurate, and the machining precision is high. The spindle frequency conversion speed regulation, the speed is gradual, the machining grinding wheel has no surface scratches and reduces the scrap rate.

Automated program control, complete manual unfinished actions, simple operation method and saving manpower. The inner hole coating machine for processing the grinding wheel comprises a centering cylinder, a squeeze cylinder, a storage cylinder, a connecting tube, a core rod, a chuck and a plate with a middle hole, and the grinding wheel is supported on the pallet, and the squeeze cylinder is The paint in the storage cylinder is pushed to the core rod, and under the action of the centering cylinder, the core rod is reciprocally applied in the inner hole of the grinding wheel. Grinding wheels with different internal holes have different mandrel for hole coating. After use, the mandrel should be sealed and stored to prevent the material in the mandrel from hardening and block the coating hole. Generally, the mandrel is immersed in diesel oil. The hole-coated material can be directly filled with water to cover the material, and is not in contact with air.

Third, molding

The grinding wheel is mainly formed by molding the sleeve and then pressing it on a hydraulic press. Before molding, the abrasive should also be screened once, then weigh the weight of the abrasive needed to form the grinding wheel, pour into the molding part of the hydraulic machine, and then mix the material as evenly as possible, scrape it with a scraper, put it into the template, and press the mold on the template. Push into the hydraulic part of the hydraulic press, start the hydraulic press, and set a certain pressure. When the hydraulic press is pressurized to the set pressure, it will stop, then relieve the pressure and push out the forming grinding wheel. Measure whether the thickness of the grinding wheel is within the sequence error and then place it on the grinding wheel frame.

Fourth, product testing

The hardness of the grinding wheel is mainly detected by the sand blasting hardness machine. The machine sprays a certain volume of quartz sand onto the surface of the grinding wheel by means of compressed air with a certain pressure, and shoots the measured grinding wheel into a small pit. The depth is used to determine the hardness of the wheel to be tested. If the hardness is high, the pit is shallow, and if the hardness is low, the pit is deep, and the pit is printed with a specific value. For example, the 350*40*127 grinding wheel in the previous example, the grinding wheel with a diameter of 350mm, the hardness K, the particle size 46, can be known by looking at the table on the machine. The standard value of the hardness is 2.34-1.80, the tolerance value is 2.61-1.57, and the output is If the value is within this range, the hardness is acceptable, and if it is not, it is unqualified.

Thank you Visvanath. Wasn't sure if it would only install the minor updates. Will try this today.

It will pull updates for whatever branch you are on. So, if you originally checked out Moodle with something like

git clone -b MOODLE_35_STABLE git@github.com:moodle/moodle.git

Then...

git pull

...will fetch and merge whatever changes have been made on the 3.5 branch since you did the last clone or pull. As long as you have not made changes to core code then it will be 'fast forward' and there'll be no merge conflicts.

I assume that this is what you mean by 'minor updates'.

Note that any non-core plugins you add will not break this (but will not update the plugins). The plugins will not be under git control which you may or may not care about.

moving from moodle 2.6 to 3.5

by Chris Nelson.

We are moving to Moodle 3.5.3 from moodle 2.6. I have a fresh install of moodle 3.5.3 up and running. The set up is Server 2012 R2, IIS 8, PHP 7.2, Mariadb 10.x. Moodle 3,5,3 is up and running. The old set up is server 2012 r2, php5.2, mysql 5.6, iis 8.

What is the best way to bring over the courses, users (users use LDAP - so should not be an issue getting them over), users materials as their courses will still be running at the time of the move. I have already added all the course catergories (not sure if this was needed or not).

If I follow the directions to move moodle to a new site: i.e. back database, copy  moodledata folder, change url etc. My concern is right now I am running version 2.6 of moodle and I am told I would need to update to 2.9 followed 3.1 then 3.5.3. Is there a way I can do the upgrade to the new version of moodle with out all the extra steps of moving to each version?

Would it be possible to back up each course, with users/data and recover to new site?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Session error after reinstall

by Ben Kahn.

Hi,

I wiped out the database on my DEV server and reinstalled Moodle from the existing code folder and a blank database/moodledata by just navigating to the site in a browser. There are several plugins already installed. After installation, I get a screen that says it will redirect but just keeps reloading over and over. I turned logging on and get the following:

Warning: session_regenerate_id(): Cannot regenerate session id - headers already sent in /var/www/html/moodle34/lib/classes/session/manager.php on line 472

Which is this code:

session_regenerate_id(true);

I was hoping to avoid doing a clean reinstall as I have just taken over this site and am not very familiar with the plugins or how to manage the site through git, but that is my next step if there is not an easy fix for this.

Version is :

3.4.4+ (Build: 20180713

Server:

Apache 2.2.15

PHP 7.0.32

mysql  Ver 14.14

Ok, you are trying to combine two methods and that is not going to work.

From here, you have two options...

1.  Delete the 3.5.3 instance and then migrate the 2.6, go through the upgrade steps and have an upgraded site with all the data that was there originally.

2.  Export the courses from your 2.6 instance and import them into the shiny new 3.5 site.

+ 1 to Emma's option #2 ...

Fresh 3.5.x with LDAP setup and working.   Check the old site for addons/plugins.  If there are compatible addons/plugins for the shiny new, install those before beginning the restore process on any course backed up from the 2.6.

https://moodle.org/plugins/

IF you have to loose a plugin (and it's data), so be it ... just make sure when backing up a course that used an old/outdated plugin, to not include that in the backup.   Restore will go much smoother.

To Emma and Ken. I have the course site up and running version 3.5.3 on a new server 2012 R2. The only thing I have done is created the course categories. I have installed all the updated plugins that were used in version 2.6. I have also configured and tested LDAP and confirmed students can log in using ldap. I have also tested importing a course without user/data.

the question I am not clear on, when I import and I use user/data as well, will the users still retain all their course material that they have been working on before the site was put in maintenance mode and the course restored?

Also, do I need to do anything with the database in 2.6? Or will the import take care of all that data?

I will still have the 2.6 course running until I am satisfied the new course site is fully operational.

The path you've chosen cannot be mixed with the other path ... that of migrating full site to higher version.

Your new server has a DB of it's own, a moodledata directory of it's own, and a code directory of it's own.

One should not try to import tables/db from old DB into new DB now that you've chosen a path.

Think I understand your question ... yes, the ID number of a student in mdl_user needs to stay the same across all courses in the system.   The column in mdl_user is what ties the user to whatever they are doing/have done etc. in courses.

Test yourself ... on the old system, pick one student who is in say 5 courses.

Make backups of those 5 courses with users.

Restore those 5 courses to new server.

Login with student credentials on new server - or login as that user.

Compare what you see in new to what's in old server for that student.  Are all classes there on new?  How about assignments that required them to upload a file ... if the old courses had activities.

That's my 2 cents ... maybe Emma has a better/faster way.

So, yes, restore a course with user data.  And check everything as Ken.

However, there will be something you will need to fix.  If you have already created the users in Moodle, you will probably have issues because you will be importing user data from another site and Moodle is going to tell you that the user you import is clashing with a user in the site.

So, if you have run a sync with the ldap server, you are probably going to want to delete out all those users from the database before you restore user data - you want to have a clean start.

Then, import one course with user data.  Check that everything looks ok in the course.  If that course looks ok and assignments all look good, then import the rest of the courses.  The course restore will create the users as you restore them.

Once that part is done, you now need to check that your users are set to authenticate via ldap.  You will probably find that they all restored as manual authentication with passwords reset.  You can make a mass change in the database (just make sure not to change the admin and guest users from manual to ldap but change all the rest.

Then try to log in as one of the users and make sure that the ldap is working correctly and recognizing the existing user.

Let's just be clear - you deleted the existing database and created a new, empty one?

Did you also delete everything in your 'moodledata' area?

Does your config.php have any session related settings?

Hello, I've been on hold using version 3.0 while preparing a new server setup using AWS Lightsail, where I'll install a fresh copy of v3.6 once it's stable. Any problems restoring 3.0 courses into 3.6?

Thanks in advance,
Robert

how do I clean up users already in the new database. I went under Users and deleted the users in bulk, but when I check the mdl_user I still the users there. Do I need to delete them directly from within the mdl_user table? I had also restored a few courses. Or would it be best to set up a wholes new database?
